Vision & Mission
Our Vision
“God is creating us and we are becoming a community of Christ following disciples living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission through our relationships with the world, with the body of Christ, and with God.”
The vision serves to set forth that which we, the Church, are becoming together. The vision begins with our understanding of God’s work in what we are doing, it is indeed God who is making and creating that which we will become. The verb, “becoming” is pivotal in our understanding that we have not yet arrived and that we are working together to fulfill this vision. It is truly a dynamic process in that we are always, “becoming.” Christ is prominent in that he is our model and discipleship then is our focus. Discipleship involves living out, not just accenting to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission and that is done most effectively through relationships.
Our Mission
“Our mission is to live out the Great Commandment (love God and others) and the Great Commission (teach others about Christ) through our relationships with the world, the body of Christ, and with God by committing to and living out the six Relational Habits (Community Service, Public Witness, Corporate Worship, Spiritual Relationships, Bible Study & Prayer).”
If the vision is that which we are seeking to “become” then the mission is the way in which we seek to become it. The mission sets forth John 15 as the model for structuring the process of “becoming,” focusing on three relationships as listed by Christ, our relationship with the world, our relationship with the body of Christ, and our relationship with God. These relationships are deliberately listed in reverse order of Jesus’ presentation to the Disciples in John 15 to highlight the importance of the process of how one comes to Christ that is evangelism. In no way is the order reversed to represent a change in the importance of relationships but merely serves as a tool to evangelism.
