City on a Hill is a…Christian Church
City on a Hill is a Christian church and is affiliated with Lutheran Churches in Mission for Christ. We profess the faith of the Christian church with a Lutheran theological flavor. Our purpose is to advance the Kingdom of God and make Jesus Christ known to all. We believe that Jesus is the author and answer to all of life’s faith questions and struggles.

City on a Hill is a…Relational Church
Have you heard the cliché, “We value people as our greatest asset?” No doubt you have. Well, how does that strike you? At City on a Hill we don’t look at people as “assets,” such as property of the corporation or an item of value that is owned. At City on a Hill, we reject the notion that people are costs, resources, or even assets. Relaptionships are our priority and our vision seeks to help people develop and enhance life’s most crucial relationships for the purpose of helping them reach their greatest potential. The three crucial relationships we attend to and foster are:

1.    One’s relationship with God
2.    One’s relationship with other’s that believe in God
3.    One’s relationship with those that don’t believe in God.

All of the above are crucial and vital human relationships that demand life’s attention and constant fostering. City on a Hill values all of these relationships and seeks to grow in all three simultaneously.

City on a Hill is a…Community Church
Relationships happen in community. For that reason, City on a Hill is a Community church in the sense that we value community and live in community with others in the church, but we are also a community in that we see our relationships rooted in and growing in our communities in the South Bay. We see the church as “people” and not a “place”.  Church is wherever we are, and we are in the community.
